This research group draws from the disciplines of diabetic medicine, geriatric medicine, health promotion, health service research, neurology, primary health care, psychology and psychiatry. Main research questions include:
- Is diabetes associated with an increased risk and adverse outcome from neurodegenerative conditions?
- What are the mechanisms by which diabetes influences the development of cognitive impairment: structural, functional and clinical?
- How do services deliver social and clinical care to older people with diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases and how may this be improved?
