The research group will develop a programme of work for black and minority ethnic (BME) groups with diabetes and people at risk of diabetes with a focus on South Asian populations.

The research group comprises of researchers from primary and secondary care with an established track record of publishing in areas of ethnic minority research in children and adults. This includes randomised controlled trials including implementation of complex interventions, epidemiological studies, genetic studies, qualitative studies, and action research interventions.

The group also includes researchers with experience of analysis of large routine datasets, systematic reviews and meta-analyses The writing group will link with the Leicester Centre for Ethnic Health Research, which has an experienced consumer panel which has already contributed to a number of applications from our group.

Members of the writing group have strong links with other organisations such as the British Heart Foundation, Diabetes UK and South Asian Health Foundation. The research questions are broad and focused on prevention of diabetes and its complications and improving care of BME groups with diabetes.
