Welcome to the South East Midlands Diabetes Local Research Network

Introduction

When the bids went out to set-up the Local Diabetes Network, our region was successful in it’s bid to host the Local Network for the South East Midlands (SEM LRN). This makes us one of eight, Local Diabetes Research Network’s (LRN’s) within England.

Our region covers Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire. In each of these sites we have a nominated Locality Clinical Lead:

  • University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust - Dr Alison Gallagher/Dr Paul McNall
  • Northampton General Hospital NHS – Dr Charles Fox
  • Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust - Professor Simon Heller
  • United Hospitals of Lincoln NHS Trust – Dr Tanweer Ahmed

Each LRN is governed by the central Diabetes Research Network Coordinating Centre (DRNCC) which is based centrally in London. The DRNCC is the first point of call for any sponsor wishing to place a research study or clinical trial through the Network. Contacts for the DRNCC are Dr Suki Balendra, Industry & Portfolio Lead and Rosemary Sowden, DRN Assistant Director; to contact either Suki or Rosemary please use the contact page which can be found on the main DRN website. Once this stage is complete, will contact each LRN, and provide them with all the relevant information required in order to get the study up and running at the most appropriate sites.

How to get Involved

You may not be involved with the SEM LRN at present but may consider doing so in the future. If this is the case, would you kindly complete the brief questionnaire and return it to Susan Enright, SEM LRN Network Manager at the above address, or alternatively return via email: [email protected]. The questionnaire will enable us to log your interest on our database and identify your preferred area(s) of research practice. Please note that any information held on our database is strictly confidential and will not be shared with any third party without your express permission. Please feel free to circulate the questionnaire to any other colleagues you think may be interested.
